When all has been said, dancing has commenced, and the happy couple is ready to begin the rest of their lives together, how should the guests and the bridal party send off the married couple?
In ancient times, throughout many cultures, and in present day wedding send offs, throwing rice or grains upon the happy couple is more than appropriate. This unique tradition is meant to send the couple on their way with well wishes, good harvest, abundance, and meant to show the married duo how much their guests appreciate them.
Still in other weddings, instead of rice, there may be bubble wands available to use to send off the couple. Bubbles are a lighthearted way to encourage the happy couple to keep things lighthearted and lean into the honeymoon stage. Guests can keep their bubble wands as a keepsake to remember the joy of the special day.
For a more romantic and delicate twist on throwing rice and grains while sticking to a natural theme, guests can shower the exiting couple with rose petals or a mix of assorted flower petals. The photographs from an exit with rose petals in the air and surrounding the couple are sure to be breathtaking.
In many cases people have shown concern for throwing rice or confetti because they are worried that birds may view these uncommon items as food and become ill. Many weddings have chosen to throw birdseed or biodegradable confetti to still feel like they are throwing something similar to rice but safe for the wildlife after the wedding is over and cleared out.
